Conquering the deep in year 6: My Mini Guide to playing Ocean Lord

My Gameplay strategy is for one of the newly released games: Ocean Lord.

There have been mixed reviews about the game since its release, but personally I found it fun and quite easy to play. After sharing one of my strategies to help a fellow Glory member, our dear admin Alex suggested I should write a post about it so it can hopefully reach and help more people enjoy the game, so here goes.

The tasks for this are very easy to accomplish, usually it requires you to shoot a number of times and you'll get coins and powerups (I have attached a screenshot). Ocean Lord

Now, the coin rewards may not look like much, but in this game, our coins get converted. So, let's say you are out of coins, by betting the minimum amount (in my case, it's 3M), you can complete the dash, get additional coins and continue playing and slowly build up your coins in the game.

Once you are inside the game, pay attention to the ticket symbol on the right side of the screen, that's your pass. By completing tasks, you can get rewards such as powerups, free coins, and jewels.

At the top of the screen you get additional missions, here you can also win powerups. Keep an eye on what your missions are and make sure you grab your rewards quickly so that you can complete more missions as you play.

On the left side of your screen you will see your usual icons: Daily mission, flaming, and the side game meter. What I loved about this game is that it helped me complete meters quicker, and one of the missions I always dread, which is to level up a certain number of times, I actually managed to complete inside this game without losing a lot of coins since I was betting low.

If you are just starting out, bet low (I started with the minimum) and shoot only at the small fishes, mostly to complete the missions at the top, clear a few levels in the pass, and complete the dash.

Hold on to your powerups until you have enough. Unless they are needed to complete a mission, don't use them until you are all set to bet higher and go for the bigger fishes. And yes, once you decide to go for the Mosasaurus, the Unicorn, and the Crabs, you will need lots of them triggered at the same time continuously (about 15-20 of each).

How many times have I mentioned bet low?  Because it's really important! This will keep you from going bankrupt. My betting strategy is to bet between 3M - 12M when I have 100T - 200T in my JW wallet (before conversion), and if I have 500T - 1Q I'd go up to 48M - 60M - no higher than that. Change your bets in between your chosen bet range, for example, golden fish will take more hits, so start with your minimum then when you feel you've shot it enough for it to get caught, raise your bet, you'll get rewarded based on the bet amount you are on when you catch the fish.

When you feel confident enough that you have enough powerups and enough coin balance to take on the big guys this is the time to use some observation of other players, and the movements of your prey. This guide will be subdivided.

8a. Other players - observe how they play. You can actually see their coin balance, how much they're betting, and how much jewels they have in stash. Even if you can't see how many powerups they have, you'd be able to tell if they are at risk of going bankrupt soon (sadly we have no way of letting them know), or if they have a lot of jewels to purchase powerups. If you see their jewels dropping, that could be an indication that they are packing up some powerups so take this into consideration about whether to go against them for the big loot or not. Be wary of those with golden canons (unless of course it's you 😂). In my case, I just leave when I see one and come back later.

8b. The prey - I know we are all aiming to get the loot from the Unicorn or the Mosasaurus, but this is important: don't try to shoot at it as soon as you enter the game. From what I observed, the Mosasaurus drops the loot at random, but most often than not, it takes 2-3 times for it to circle the screen before it is ready to be captured. Let the first comers get the loot and wait for the next time it appears. The first 1 or 2 times it shows up, just bet low but use your powerups to get as many hits in as possible. Click lock-on, rapid-fire, then freeze. It's better if you freeze it while it's near you.  Make sure to keep your fingers on the powerups to retrigger as soon as the timer runs out. The Mosasaurus tints red when it's taking critical hits, you can use this as indication that it's about to be captured, by this time, usually after the third time it's back on the screen, raise your bet. If you don't get it, that's fine, you can actually tell if you got the loot or not, the amounts in silver means someone else got the loot, if it's gold, it's yours. When the Mosasaurus is hunting, keep an eye out for the crab, aim at that one and try to get it as soon as you can, then hit the Unicorn with it. This gives you a higher chance to get the Unicorn and other fish even if you didn't get the Mosasaurus. If you managed to get them all, great job!

The Ocean Lord Game is under testing stage, so it may or may not be available for you at the moment. Hopefully, my mini guide can help you conquer the deep ocean when it becomes available for all or for your region. 😊

Keep it cool. Have fun! Happy Fishing!
